NasDem Gets Information Gibran Rakabuming Prepared By PDIP For Central Java Governor Election, Not In DKI

Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka/DOC Solo City Government

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Jakarta NasDem Party Regional Leadership Council (DPW), Hasan Basri Umar, admitted that he received information that the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was being prepared by the PDIP to advance in the Central Java Governor Election (Pilgub).

This is different from the political process in the PDIP DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Council (DPD) which has Gibran as one of the potential candidates to be carried out in the DKI Jakarta Pilgub.

"According to the information received, Gibran is being prepared by (PDIP) for Central Java," Hasan told reporters, Thursday, February 9.

Hasan said, Gibran was considered unable to compete in the political contestation in Jakarta. After all, in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), his father, Joko Widodo will end his term as president.

"If you enter Jakarta, it's counted, the worry is that it won't work because the Pilkada is still in October. Meanwhile, the Presidential Election is February, when his father (Jokowi) is no longer in power. Many people say that," said Hasan.

Meanwhile, continued Hasan, NasDem already has two cadres who will be promoted in the DKI Pilgub. They are the Treasurer of the NasDem DPP Ahmad Sahroni and the Secretary of the DKI NasDem DPW Wibi Andrino.

"One of the names that have been circulating internally is Ahmad Sahroni and includes Wibi Andrino. Even though it hasn't been officially announced, many Jakarta NasDem cadres have started proposing them," said Hasan.

Previously, the Secretary of the PDIP DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Council (DPD), Gembong Warsono, admitted that his party had discussed a number of names to be nominated in the 2024 DKI Pilkada.

These figures were taken from regional heads whom the PDIP considered successful in carrying out their duties. The head of the DKI DPRD PDIP faction also revealed the names of these figures, one of which is the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"In internal party discussions, we have discussed several regional heads who we consider to have succeeded in leading their regions. One of them is Mas Gibran," said Gembong at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, February 6.

It's not only Gibran's name that has entered the radar for discussion of potential figures for the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor Election by the party bearing the bull symbol. Gembong said other names were also discussed.

They are former Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini, former Mayor of Semarang Hendrar Prihadi (Hendi), to former Regent of Banyuwangi Abdullah Azwar Anas.
