Observer: Composite Operations Of The Indonesian National Police Save Susi Air Crew In Papua

JAKARTA - Intelligence and defense observer Susaningtyas Nefo Handayani Kertopati suggested the joint operation of the Indonesian National Police which was integrated in the rescue operation of Susi Air crews whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

Previously, the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Commander of TPNPB Ndugama Egianus Kogeya (EK) stated that he was responsible for the burning of Susi Ai's plane in Nduga, Papua, last Tuesday.

"As a suggestion, there must be an integrated and informative joint operation between the TNI and Polri," said Susaningtyas in a statement received by Voi.id, Wednesday, February 8.

As for the motive for the KKB terror act, Susaningtyas said, this indicates that EK's continued action from the declaration of war rejects all developments, including the expansion of the DOB and the addition of the Kodim.

"At most, EK was arrested alive so that his network could be known, including those from abroad," he said.

He suggested that pioneering airports in the mountains that become KKB's nests be temporarily closed.

"Build only one bigger and stronger airport, as the base of the resistance and the logistics center of the Indonesian National Police which is difficult for opponents to control," he said.

Susaningtyas added the need for dialogue with various parties to get support and reduce the next EK actions.

"Open dialogue with traditional groups, religious groups, youth leaders, religious leaders to hear their opinions," concluded Susaningtyas.

Previously, the Commander of Korem 172/Praja Wira Yakthi Brigadier General Juinta Omboh Sembiring said, until now the whereabouts of the Susi Air pilot Philip Merthens who was held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Nduga, Papua, are not yet known. "It is true, the presence of the New Zealand pilot is currently unknown and hopes to be in a safe condition," Sembiring said when confirmed by ANTARA from Jayapura, Wednesday, February 8.
