Moeldoko Said Jokowi Had Considered A Number Of Candidates For The National Police Chief

JAKARTA - Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had considered a number of names to be appointed as the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Kapolri) to replace General Idham Azis.

"Whoever is already there. It just so happens that it is not in my pocket," Moeldoko told reporters in Jakarta, Monday, January 4.

According to him, the name already exists and is ready to be submitted to the DPR. Moreover, this substitution was nothing out of the ordinary. So, all processes are just a matter of time.

"Yes, it's actually because this is something routine, yes, the procedure is there, it's just a matter of time, there must be someone there," he said.

"This is the mechanism. There is clearly a suggestion. Next the DPR will process it there, the election process, the next decision will be what kind of decision. I think it will be there, the latter will be easy," he added.

It is known, in the process of selecting a replacement for Idham Azis who will retire on February 1, Jokowi will choose the names presented by the National Police Commission (Kompolnas).

Furthermore, the name chosen will be submitted to the DPR for a fit and proper test.
