The General Election Commission (KPU) of East Nusa Tenggara Province noted that the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) budget in the province rose 9 percent to Rp340 billion compared to the 2018 regional elections.

"The upcoming regional election budget will increase by 9 percent, from the 2018 Pilkada of around Rp314 billion to around Rp340 billion in the 2024 Pilkada," said NTT KPU chairman Thomas Dohu as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 7.

Thomas Dohu conveyed this in a meeting with the Governor of NTT Viktor Laiskodat in Kupang, NTT, last Monday.

He explained that the budget was used to finance the stages of regional elections, such as nominations, campaigns, updating voter data, logistics, socialization, and honorariums.

Currently, he continued, the NTT KPU has formed a District Election Committee (PPK) in 315 sub-districts and the Voting Committee (PPS) in 3,424 villages.

"Currently, the TPS arrangement is being carried out, for the total number that will be informed on February 11," he added.

Meanwhile, Viktor Laiskodat said the NTT Provincial Government supports the addition of the regional election budget to make the 2024 Pilkada a success.

"Surely the NTT Provincial Government will support that. When I as governor will invite all regents and mayors to sit down and discuss so that I can decide the amount of the budget," said Viktor.

He also ensured that his party together with regents and mayors in NTT would find the best solution to get a budget for the 2024 General Election.
