'Unggal' And 'Tazoo', Named From Heru Budi For Gajah And Jerapah In Ragunan Wildlife Park

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono named a calf and an elephant in Ragunan Wildlife Park, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

"The elephant's name is superior, so that it is superior and healthy," Heru said when met, in Jakarta, Friday, February 3.

Heru also on that occasion signed the sheet of naming the elephant.

Then, Heru and his staff also visited the giraffe cage, which had the same birth date as the previous elephant, namely September 5, 2022.

"The name of the giraffe Tazoo is to remember its origin, yes Taronga Zoo Australia," he continued.

Heru added that this moment was the first time to feed the elephant, while the giraffe had previously done so.

In addition to naming the giraffes and elephants, Heru also had the opportunity to plant five tabebuya trees to increase reforestation in the area.

Head of the Ragunan Wildlife Park Management Unit, Endah Rumiyati, said that his party continues to carry out maintenance in order to maintain the health and welfare of animals.

According to him, doctors routinely check every animal cage to ensure that there are animals that have diseases.

"Not only giraffes and elephants, but all animals in the cage, we do maintenance and feeding," he said.

Previously, the number of animals in the Ragunan Wildlife Park increased by two this year, bringing the collection to 2,269 heads.

"In 2022, two animals were born, namely a giraffe and one elephant which is a favorite animal for visitors," said Ragunan Wildlife Park Service and Public Relations Staff (Humas) Wahyudi Bambang.

This baby animal care is equipped with lights to cages to care for animals that are starting to grow big.

The Ragunan Wildlife Park is located in South Jakarta and has an area of 147 hectares and is inhabited by more than 2,009 animals and over 20.000 trees overgrown.

The land is arranged and built and some are still being developed towards a modern zoo as an identity for the City of Jakarta.
