The National Narcotics Agency of Batang Regency, Central Java, has uncovered a case of using methamphetamine with a suspect a member of the Pekalongan City Regional People's Representative Council and a retired state civil servant (ASN). The head of the Batang Regency BNN, Khrisna Anggara, said that the disclosure of the case began with information from the public who suspected drug transactions on Jalan Maninjau, Pekalongan City. "The information was then followed up by BNN officers by conducting an investigation and arrest of a retired ASN with the initials UBS (63) on Saturday at around 23.00 WIB," he said at a press conference in Batang, Antara, Thursday, February 2 evening. From the results of the arrest of the first perpetrator, he said, BNN then conducted an examination on UBS' cellphone and found evidence of conversations that led to drug transactions. "Based on the search results of these clues, we found a clear plastic clip package containing methamphetamine-type narcotics coated with black duct tape covered with tile shards in the corner of the wall," he said. Khrisna Anggara, who was accompanied by the Head of the Eradication Division of the Central Java BNN, Kombes Arief Dimjati, said that from the findings of the evidence in the form of 0.50 grams of crystal methamphetamine, his party then carried out initial interrogation of USB. Based on the information from the suspect USB, he said, the 0.50 gram methamphetamine package was ordered by an individual member of the Pekalongan City DPRD with the initials JZ (53) on Sunday (29/1) at around 01.30 WIB. The suspect will be subject to Article 132 paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
