Commission III Battalioned Iluni FHUI's Hearing Regarding Death And Determination Of Suspect Hasya Athallah

JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR canceled holding a Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) to hear the aspirations of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (Iluni FHUI) regarding the accident that killed University of Indonesia (UI) student Hasya Athallah.

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Taufik Basari, explained that the RDPU had to be postponed because the families of UI students who died were unable to attend.

"The first is because the time coincides with the family's plan to report to the Regional Police regarding the criminal act of neglecting people who need help who eventually die and coincidentally coincide with reconstruction," said Taufik at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, February 2.

The families of UI students who died expressed hope not to be shown to the public excessively. They need time to recover from sadness and trauma from the incident that claimed the lives of their children.

"They are currently grieving," he said.

The RDPU, which was originally intended to be held, was intended to hear directly about the hopes and problems faced by the families of the victims and Iluni FHUI as assistants in dealing with the handling of the accident case that killed UI student M Hasya Attalah Syahputra.

"Because Commission III of the DPR RI pays quite high attention to this incident because there are several notes that we provide," he added.

Taufik said Commission III of the DPR would reschedule the RDPU with Iluni FHUI regarding the handling of the accident case involving the retired National Police as a car driver.

As reported, the accident occurred on Srengseng Sawah Street, South Jakarta, on October 6, 2022.

Hasya, who died, was named a suspect due to negligence, while the car driver was a witness. This case has drawn public polemic because the death toll has become a suspect.

Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Latif Usman in Jakarta, Friday (27/1), said that car drivers cannot be used as suspects for driving on their lanes, while motorcyclists enter the lane of the car driver.

"Because of the victim's negligence in riding a motorcycle, it took his own life away," said Latif.
