Secretary General Advises Kaesang To Enter PDIP To Join Jokowi And Gibran: One Family Can't Be Different Parties

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) positively welcomes the son of President Joko Widodo, Kaesang Pangarep who is interested in entering politics. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto suggested that Kaesang enter the PDIP following his father and brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Moreover, he said, there was a 'pakem' in PDIP that a politician's family should not be in different political parties.

"If (Kaesang, red) wants to enter the PDIP, we have a rule that in one family we cannot be included in the different choices of parties," said Hasto in Bandung, West Java, Saturday, January 28.

According to him, it is very important for families to commit not to different parties. Because he said, political education was built from the family.

"Because it also shows an emotional bonding, awareness, and political education starting from the family," said Hasto. Previously, the founder of the KedaiKOPI survey agency, Hendri Satrio, said it was not surprising that President Joko Widodo's youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, was interested in politics. Moreover, his older brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is a mayor in Solo. In addition, his brother-in-law, Bobby Nasution, also serves as mayor of Medan.

"I don't think it's a surprising thing. If Mr. Jokowi and Mas Gibran are shocked, I'm not, I'm already caught. Hendri assessed that Kaesang Pangarep would follow in Jokowi's footsteps and Gibran became a cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), if he later joined a political party. Because it was PDIP that brought his father and brother to sit in the power seat.
