Head of the Kupang National Water Conservation Area (BKKPN), Imam Fauzi, explained that the release of two belombing sharks that were started with traditional ceremonies was carried out in the Wayag Lagoon at different locations.
The first release of a young belombing shark named Charlie was carried out on a white sand beach in the lagoon, while the cub named Audrey was carried out on a sandy beach on the entrance to the lagoon.
"Laguna Wayag Raja Ampat was chosen as the first release site because it is the ecosystem of various types of sharks and paries, especially as the first Pari Manta Karang enlargement area in the world," he explained in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, January 27.
