New Year's Eve, Nakes In Singapore Rained With Fruits

JAKARTA - Welcoming the New Year 2021, health workers (health workers) in Singapore were flooded with fruit gifts. The gift was sent by The Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (MTR) restaurant as a thank you for fighting in the front line against COVID-19.

Launching The Strait Times, Thursday, December 31, Raghavendra Shastry, director of MTR restaurant operations, said the end of the year is the right time to thank the nakes. Because, they have worked hard all year.

"I'm asking myself, if not now, then when?" said Shastry.

The goodwill was later supported by the Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Youth in Singapore, Eric Chua. He also helped provide boxes for fruit to be distributed. MTR's steps, said Chua, are truly commendable and must be an example so that we become more caring for others.

"2020 has been a year of disruption and challenges for all of us. However, I think one thing we can all agree on is that we are very proud of our healthcare workers who have worked tirelessly and committed to their work," said Chua.

Not only Chua, the Indian High Commissioner for Singapore, Periasamy Kumaran, who was being invited, also praised the MTR and especially the local government. He expressed this praise because policy owners are important actors capable of controlling the pandemic.

"Maybe Singapore is one of the safest places in the world right now," said Kumaran. "I also hope that next year will be much better, and we hope to have a more normal lifestyle in the coming months," he said.

Previously, MTR was a local restaurant that was actively distributing hot coffee and snacks to hospitals in Singapore. They carried out this activity from April to June as an effort to encourage health workers who are fighting against COVID-19.
