Iran Calls The Burns Of The Al Quran In Sweden Picu Violence Against Muslims

JAKARTA - Iran on Saturday strongly condemned the burning of the Al-Quran by a Swedish-Denmark far-right extremist in Sweden for triggering hatred and violence against Muslims.

In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Lazi said several European countries under the guise of supporting freedom of expression had allowed extremists and radical groups to spread hatred of the prostitution and values of Islam.

Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Stram Kurs Party (Garis Keras), under police protection and with government permission, burned the Al Quran prayer room in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, Saturday.

He said that despite strong emphasis on human rights in Islam, Europeans continue to institutionate anti-Islam and Islamophobia in their society.

He added, citing Antara, Al-Quran blasphemy is a real example of the spread of hatred and the trigger for violence against Muslims, which has nothing to do with free speech and thinking.

Lihi menambahkan bahwa umat Islamasi di seluruh dunia berharap pemerintah Sweden memastikan kejadian serupa tak terulang dan meminta tindakan tersebut tak lewat dari hukuman.

Paludan, an extremist with the right wing, is known for his anti-Muslim activities.

In April 2022, he carried out a controversial action by announcing the tur' burning of the Koran in various cities in Sweden during the holy month of Ramadan.
