The Bangkalan Police have named eight people as suspects in the case of beating a woman selling tea in Kamal Bangkalan some time ago.

"One of the eight suspected perpetrators of the beating is a man. Meanwhile, seven other people are women," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bangkalan Police AKP Bangkit Dananjaya, Thursday, January 19, quoted from Antara.

The eight suspects each had the initials HN, FF, JM, HL, DV, NA, DW and YL. All of them are residents of Kamal District, Bangkalan.

Bangkit explained that the case of beating young women by eight people occurred when the victim was selling sweet tea around Kamal Harbor, Bangkalan.

Suddenly, one of the eight suspects hit the victim and accused the victim of being an actor. The other seven suspects then came to help and participated in the beating. The case went viral on social media.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Bangkit Dananjaya further explained, after the incident, the victim reported to the Bangkalan Police Headquarters.

"Based on the report, we immediately carried out an investigation by examining the reporter, as well as a number of witnesses, including video recordings that went viral on social media," he said.

The former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mojokerto Police further explained that the investigative team also asked for clarification directly from the husband of one of the suspects, and the allegations were not true.

To account for his actions, the police charged the eight suspects with Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning Violence Together against a person in public with a 5-year prison sentence.
