Security Facilities So The Reason For The DKI Satpol PP To Donate Rp11 Billion To Buy 10 Luxury Cars For Kodam Jaya Officials

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Arifin explained the reason his party provided a grant of Rp11 billion for the purchase of official vehicles for the Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam). The grant was sucked in the DKI Regional Budget for the 2023 fiscal year.

In the Commission A working meeting, it was explained that Satpol PP provided grants intended for the procurement of 10 official vehicles for Kodam Jaya officials. In detail, 10 units of Land Cruiser, 1 unit of Prado, 2 units of Fortuner, and 6 units of Innova.

After the meeting, Arifin revealed that the allocation of grant funds to other agencies, including the Jaya Regional Military Command, was part of efforts to improve security in Jakarta.

"This is also for security services, namely for security and regarding security, Jakarta needs the support of existing unit infrastructure," said Arifin at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Tuesday, January 17.

Arifin admitted that the type of procurement sourced from grant funds to other agencies was not decided by the DKI Provincial Government. The flow, the grant proposal is submitted to an agency to the government. Then, the allocation for the application for grant funds was discussed by the DKI Provincial Government internally.

"The stage is long, actually. The grant proposal is submitted by an institution that asks the provincial government for a grant. Later there will be discussions with those who apply for a grant, there will be research from the administrative side and to the location about what are the needs proposed," said Arifin.

Now, the allocation of grants for the purchase of cars for Kodam Jaya officials is questioned when this year's DKI Regional Budget has been agreed with the DKI DPRD. Even so, Arifin emphasized that the allocation of grant funds had gone through discussions with the DKI DPRD to consider the value of the need for funds during the budget preparation period.

"The process is after the (submission) is discussed with the council, starting from Commission A of the DPRD to the Budget Agency, before being designated as APBD," he said.

The Rp11 billion grant budget allocation for the vehicles of Kodam Jaya officials surprised Member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Thopaz Nuhgraha Syamsul.

Thopaz admitted that the granting of grants from the DKI Provincial Government from the APBD to other institutions was not wrong. However, if the grant is for the purchase of official luxury cars, he considers it inappropriate.

"The grants accommodated by the Satpol PP for the procurement of KDO (operational service vehicles). Our province still needs a lot, sir. Why give the KDO car Land Cruiser vehicle? What's the business with us giving money to buy them Land Cruiser?" said Thopaz in a meeting with the DKI Satpol PP ranks.
