JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes that the ranks of the local government already know what kind of interventions and policies must be taken to meet the target of eradicating extreme poverty of zero percent by 2024.

Therefore, Jokowi asked the participants who attended the 2023 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Regional Heads and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) at the Sentul International Convention Center, Bogor, West Java, Tuesday, to follow up on this matter.

"Everything already has data, which means who is the target, who is the target, everything is there. Whatever the handling is like, I don't think I need to convey anymore. What interventions should be carried out, everything, the local government already knows what must be done", said Jokowi in his opening National Coordination Meeting of Regional Heads-Forkopimda 2023 which was broadcast live on the Presidential Secretariat's official YouTube channel, Antara, Tuesday, January 17.

In fact, continued Jokowi, the existence of data related to extreme poverty should already exist in every village throughout Indonesia. So that the local government is only serious about carrying out the policies that must be carried out.

Nevertheless, Jokowi reminded that the target of eradicating extreme poverty of zero percent by 2024 is not something easy. Moreover, according to the President, there are currently 14 provinces whose extreme poverty rate is above the national rate.

"Please all regional heads check this, there are 14 provinces that are still above the national level. Even though we know our target in 2024 (extreme) poverty must be at zero percent. This is not an easy target. In 2022 it will still be 2 percent and 14 provinces above national", Jokowi said.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said that tackling extreme poverty and stunting was a priority program for 2023. According to the Coordinating Minister for PMK, the two problems overlapped.

"The cause of stunting is motivated by the phenomenon of extreme poverty, such as obstacles in accessing basic needs, access to clean water, sanitation facilities and others", Muhadjir said as reported, Friday, January 13.

The Coordinating Minister for PMK said that several specific and sensitive interventions related to extreme poverty and stunting require collaboration and synergy across ministries and agencies.
