Percentage Of Deaths Due To COVID-19 In North Sumatra Is Above National Figures

MEDAN - The percentage of deaths due to COVID-19 in North Sumatra as of December 27 was 3.8 percent. This figure is higher than the national 3.0 percent and even the world which is 2.2 percent.

"The average number of cases died due to COVID-19 in North Sumatra in the last 14 days was 2.3 cases per day or 3.8 percent and that figure is higher than national and world levels," said Dr Aris, a spokesman for the task force for handling COVID-19 in North Sumatra. Yudhariansyah in Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 28.

According to data up to December 27, the number of COVID-19 patients who died in North Sumatra was 672 after increasing by two people in one day. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed patients as of December 27 was 17,810 after increasing by 78 in one day.

He explained, there are 10 districts / cities with the highest cumulative number of deaths in North Sumatra, starting from Medan City with 322 people, Deliserdang 98 people, Simalungun 26 people.

Then Langkat 24 people, Binjai 21 people, Karo 17 people, Tebingtinggi 14 people, Pematang Siantar 14 people, Asahan 13 people and Gunung Sitoli 11 people.

"The Task Force asks the community to continue to carry out the process (health protocol) and to take firm action against residents or companies that violate the health program," said Aris.

There were 5,854 new cases of COVID-19

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 34,796 specimens were examined with the results of 5,854 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 719,219 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Monday, December 28.

Cases recovered today increased by 6,302 so that a total of 589,978 people recovered. Then, 215 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 21,452 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,678 new cases and a total of 177,604 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by Central Java which has 977 new cases with a total of 78,770 cases. East Java has 784 new cases and a total of 81,532 cases. Then, West Java has 403 new cases and a total of 79,993 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,700 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 832 recovered cases, South Sulawesi with an increase of 695 recovered cases, and East Java with an increase of 693 recovered cases.

Then, there is 1 province that reported no new cases today. The province is West Kalimantan.
