A fatal incident occurred at an illegal gold mine in Sekatak, Bulungan, North Kalimantan. Two people with the initials K (23) and R (49) died while in the mine. K is a TNI personnel on duty in Bulungan. "The incident was reported on Monday, January 9 and was found last Wednesday at around 01.00 WITA," said Head of the Bulungan Police Detective and Criminal Unit, Iptu Mohammad Khomaini when contacted from Tarakan, Antara, Thursday, October 12. The evacuation carried out by the police was also assisted by TNI personnel. Meanwhile, two witnesses are being questioned. The commander of Denpom VI/3 Bulungan Major Andik Saparudin said the problem was handled by Pomdam VI/Mulawarman. "The problem has been handled by Pomdam VI/Mulawarman, Korem is only helping with the evacuation, the chronology may be able to go to Denpom," said Andik. Several years ago Ditintelkam, Ditshabara and the Ditreskrimsus Polda Kaltara conducted joint raids and raided three illegal mines belonging to residents. From the results of the raid, several pieces of evidence were found in the form of six excavators, one can of cyanide, five sacks of gold-containing earth material, two units of water machines, one light machine, one sack of lime from three mining sites and three suspects who are illegal mine owners.
