MALANG - The Central Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB-TNBTS) enforces special rules for tourists who will travel to the Bromo area, in East Java. Travelers are required to submit a negative rapid test or antigen rapid test

Acting Head of the TNBTS Center, Agus Budi Santosa, said that the regulation was effective from December 30, 2020 to January 3, 2021 in an effort to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 in tourist areas on year-end holidays.

"On December 30, 2020 to January 3, 2021, visitors to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park tour must show an antigen rapid test certificate, with negative results," Agus said as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 28.

Agus explained that tourists who are going to the Bromo area are obliged to carry out a rapid antigen test a maximum of three days before the implementation of a tourist visit to one of the leading tourist destinations in East Java.

"This is done in response to the development and dynamics of the COVID-19 case which has yet to show a reduction and to minimize the impact of risks on visitors, officers and the community," continued Agus.

In addition to requiring tourists visiting Bromo to show negative results of the antigen rapid test, the TNBTS Center has also reduced the tourist visit quota from 28 December 2020 to 8 January 2020.

The number of tourists is set at 1,001 people per day or 30 percent of the total capacity of the area. Until January 8, 2020, the number of tourists allowed to visit was 1,001 people per day.

The Bromo area is one of the leading tourist destinations in East Java. It was noted that throughout 2019, the number of tourist visits from both domestic and foreign to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park reached 690,831 people.

Of this total, 669,422 people are domestic tourists, while 21,409 others are foreign tourists. Total Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from tourist visits in 2019, reached IDR 22.86 billion.
