The Sabang District Attorney's Office sentenced a man with the initials YO (56) 39 lashes for being involved in sexual harassment of minors in the Sabang City area. The head of the Sabang District Attorney's Office, Choirun Parapat, said that YO was sentenced to caning after being proven to have committed sexual harassment, which violated Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the law of jinayat. "Today we have carried out an ukhubat caning of one person convicted of sexual harassment offenses, 39 lashes without deductions," said Choirun in a statement received in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, January 12. YO received the caning law in accordance with the decision of the Sharia Court of Sabang City on December 23, 2022, where the execution of the sentence was carried out in early 2023. Choirun Parapat said that in being accountable for his actions, the convict YO was sentenced to 39 lashes without a cut in his prison term. Because, he continued, apart from the law in accordance with the qanun jinayat, which is Aceh's specificity, YO is also proven to have violated the child protection law. " “ Because the person concerned is also serving a sentence at the Sabang Detention Center in a child protection case, with a sentence of six years in prison," he explained.
