MALUKU - Maluku Provincial Government (Pemprov) Maluku has set an earthquake emergency response status in Tanimbar Islands Regency (KKT) and Southwest Maluku Regency (MBD).
The emergency response status was determined by the Governor of Maluku Province through Decree No. 86 of 2023 and the Regent of the Tanimbar Islands through Decree No. 361/10 of 2023 for 14 days, starting from January 10 to 24, 2023.

The Maluku Provincial Government is coordinating intensively with the Tanimbar Islands Regency Government and MBD, as well as with regional apparatus organizations (OPD)/agencies/technical institutions related to disasters, including the TNI/Polri, in synergizing joint roles to deal with emergency problems after an earthquake occurred.
The Maluku Provincial Government, on January 10, 2023, deployed logistical assistance to the KKT and MBD in the form of rice, evacuation equipment, family equipment, clothing equipment, and medicines. Assistance to communities affected by the earthquake at the KKT has been dispatched using the Nusantara Belt Ship 72 and arrives today.
Meanwhile, assistance for the affected communities in MBD will arrive on January 15, 2023.
On the other hand, he said, the follow-up to the Maluku Provincial Government will take, among others, form a companion team to provide direct assistance to the KKT and MBD governments, improve coordination and communication with ministries/agencies and district/city governments, as well as synergize with elements of the TNI/Polri in an emergency response period.
