The government of South Central Timor Regency (TTS), East Nusa Tenggara Province has repair in an emergency the Kie road to Oinlasi which was cut off allegedly due to a 7.5 magnitude earthquake shock with an earthquake center in Maluku on Tuesday morning.
"The South Central Timor Regency Government has repaired the access road that was cut off because it was suspected of being affected by the Maluku earthquake whose shock was also felt by the people of TTS. The repair was carried out in an emergency so that access to transportation from Oinlation to Soe, the capital city of TTS Regency remained smooth," said Deputy Regent of South Central Timor Jhonny Army Konay when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, January 10.
The 7.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked Maluku was also felt in the province of East Nusa Tenggara, allegedly causing road sections in a number of sub-districts of South Central Timor Regency (TTS) to be damaged, thus paralyzing access to transportation to several local areas.
"The earthquake that occurred on Tuesday (10/1) in the morning had an impact on landslides and faults on several roads in several locations in South Central Timor Regency," said Jhonny Army Konay.
He explained that the TTS Regency Government deployed heavy equipment to displace and harden roads that were broken due to earthquake shocks.
According to him, after repairs and cleaning up rock material at the location of the broken road, public transportation access was able to cross the damaged location.
"Although the existing road is repaired in an emergency, the most important thing is that public transportation can pass safely, so that people can carry out their activities safely and comfortably," said Jhonny Army Konay.
He reminded residents who crossed the location of the broken road to remain careful and if they saw a crack and broken road so as not to force themselves to pass.
