JAKARTA - The school holiday period has changed to even semester learning. Students flock to school. What about SDN Pondok Cina 1 which had faced a relocation polemic?

PSI DPP spokesman Sigit Widodo said the elementary school students located on Jalan Margonda, Depok, West Java (West Java) had been active as usual.

"The first day of the even semester at SDN Pondok Cina 1 Depok City," Sigid said on his Twitter account, @sigitwid, Monday, January 9.

However, teaching and learning activities at SDN Pondok Cina 1 are not fully normal. There are several teachers or teaching staff who have not filled a number of classrooms attended by students.

"Although some teachers have returned to teaching, there are several classes that are still without teachers," he added.

He hopes that the scientific demanding activities carried out by students at SDN Pondok Cina 1 will be as usual tomorrow, Tuesday 10 January.

"Hopefully tomorrow all the teachers will return to teaching as promised by the Mayor," said Sigid.

Previously, the Depok City Government (Pemkot) insisted on relocating SDN Pondok Cina 1 because it would build a mosque on the school's land.

The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) has even visited SDN Pondok Cina 1, but has received resistance. Those who confront parents of students who do not just accept local government policies without knowing the fate of their children in school will be carried out after the relocation is carried out.

The evacuation, which was originally scheduled to be carried out by the Satpol PP on Sunday, December 11, 2022, finally failed. The next day the students returned to school to study accompanied by various supports from the public, including netizens who refused to relocate.

Deputy Mayor of Depok, Imam Budi Hartono finally decided to postpone the relocation of students at SDN Pondok Cina 1. The Depok City Government granted the aspirations of some parents who wanted a postponement of the relocation.

"The continuity of education for our students is a top priority for the Depok City Government. Education is a bridge for our children to achieve the future," said Imam on his social media, Thursday, December 15.

Imam admitted that the Depok City Government would also facilitate all teaching and learning activities at that location.

In fact, he said, according to what parents and students and the public are fighting for, the Depok City Government will also build 34 Depok State Junior High School in the Pondok Cina area. It is planned that the State Junior High School can operate in the new school year 2023-2024.
