JAKARTA - A dog abandoned at San Francisco Airport, United States has found a new home and a new 'parent' for a United Airlines airline captain, according to SPCA San Francisco.
A puppy named Polaris arrived in San Francisco with an inmate from an international trip. But the dog was left at the airport, when "the passenger chose to continue his animalless journey," said SPCA San Francisco, according to CNN December 25.
United Airlines "works to ensure the puppy completes the necessary conditions to enter the United States, including the quarantine period," the non-profit organization said in a release.
And after completing quarantine, the puppy found his new home with Captain United Airlines William Dale, according to the release.
On December 15, the airline held a lively adoption party at the airport to celebrate Polaris adoption. Airlines also donated $5.000 to support San Francisco's SPCA mission.
"The United Customer Service team is taking sufficient challenges to ensure Polaris is safe, healthy, and finds a loving home," said Lisa Feder, head of rescue and well-being SPCA San Francisco.
"Since Polaris landed in our care, our entire SFO United team has treated him 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until we have permission to keep him safe in the US," said Vincent Passafiume, director of customer service at United Airlines.
"It's amazing to see this story become a full circle and that Polaris will have a loving home with Captain Dale United Airlines and his family," said Vincent Passafiume.
