JAKARTA - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) will cooperate with an e-commers company, Bukalapak, for online marketing of fishery products.
Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo received a visit from Bukalapak's Co-Founder, Fajri Rasyid, and his entourage at the KKP Office, Central Jakarta, Monday 3 February.
During the meeting, Minister Edhy explained that the products produced by fishermen and fishery and marine business actors in Indonesia are very diverse. Starting from food to tech fishery equipment.
"There are fish cakes, chili sauce, and even mangrove syrup. Based on lab tests, this syrup is good for the body because it can prevent aging. There are also crafts made from shellfish, fish feed making machines, and shrimp pond mill," said Minister Edhy.
Minister Edhy hopes that the cooperation between his ministry and Bukalapak will soon be realized. He believes that online sales can reduce the length of the distribution chain so that the income of fishermen and business actors will increase.
For food products, continued Minister Edhy, on average, they already have certificates from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM). However, he still gives flexibility to Bukalapak in applying company standards to fishery products that will be marketed later.
Meanwhile, Bukalapak's Co-Founder Fajrin Rasyid said the public's trust in e-commers is currently getting higher. This is evidenced by the large number of transactions and the products being sought are increasingly diverse. If previously electronics and fashion were the prima donna, now food products are also being sought after by consumers.
"For food, one of the most enthusiastic enthusiasts is fishery products, for example, empek-empek," said Fajrin Rasyid.
In the collaboration between KKP and Bukalapak, his party will act as a facilitator as well as provide direction to fishermen and KKP-assisted business actors, so that the products produced can be sold online and attract consumers' attention.
"Hopefully there will be an MoU in the near future. I am optimistic (sales of fishery products) will be even greater, and hopefully this can be maximally utilized by stakeholders related to the KKP," concluded Fajri.
