JAKARTA - Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta, Iqbal Akbarudin said that his party would form a task force related to the prohibition of wagons from operating in the National Monument (Monas) area.

However, before the plan is carried out, he will first disseminate information to the owner of the wagon or association of the coachman. He asked for support from the community in realizing the Monas, Thamrin and HI roundabouts without a wagon.

"Monas, Thamrin, the HI Roundabout will become a free wagon area," Iqbal said in a written statement, January 4.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency, Wildan Anwar, confirmed that there was a plan to ban wagons in the Monas area. According to Wildan, the existence of existing wagons is quite disturbing, especially horse droppings.

"Sometimes it drains, causing a very pungent smell of pesing in the Monas area," he explained.

The existence of wagons is prohibited from the Mayor's Circular (SE) Number 36 of 2016 which contains a ban on the operation of wagons in the Monas area.

The rules that prohibit wagons from being at Monas have not been revoked so the Central Jakarta City Government continues to apply these rules.
