The joint SAR team found the victim washed up in the Margoyoso Jepara River in a state of death, Wednesday, January 4.

The Daily Chief Executive of the Jepara Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Arwin Noor said the victim was a student at Pondok Al Falah, Kedungsari Village, Welahan District, Jepara who was swept away while bathing in the river after playing football.

"A number of friends of the victim had warned against bathing in the river because it was not safe, but the victim still forced her to be swept away by the river current," said Arwin in Jepara, Central Java, Wednesday, January 4, as reported by Antara.

He said the victim named Sulton (14) was found at the Welahan Dam in Ketyleng Village on Wednesday, January 4 at 00.00 WIB.

The victim was immediately taken to the Welahan I Health Center. After the post-mortem was carried out, the body was handed over to the family for burial.

Arwin said the incident started when around 20 students rested after playing football at Margoyoso Field, Kalinyamatan District, Jepara on Monday, January 2 at 15.30 WIB.

The victim then cleaned himself up in the river, which at that time had quite a strong current. His fellow students have warned, but because they still fell, the victim was swept away by the river current.

To avoid similar cases, Arwin reminded children not to play or bathe in the river because the current tends to be heavy.
