JAKARTA - After being appointed as Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono resigned his position as President Commissioner at PT Agro Industri Nasional (Agrinas). He said the position would be held by the current Deputy of Defense, namely Herindra.

"The next Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) will be the President Commissioner there (PT Agrinas, red). I can't, because it (commut, red) is an ex-officio position as Deputy Defense Minister," Trenggono said in a written statement to reporters , Wednesday, December 23.

Furthermore, the Spokesperson for the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Doni Ismanto said Trenggono would also leave his position as the Defense Industry Policy Committee (KKIP). Later, this position will also be handed over to the new Deputy Minister of Defense.

"The KKIP secretary is also an ex-officio or concurrent position in the ministry. This means that anyone who serves as Deputy Minister of Defense will automatically serve as KKIP Secretary," said Doni.

He emphasized that Trenggono will now focus on carrying out his new duties as Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries replacing Edhy Prabowo, who is involved in the bribery case for export of fries or lobster seeds that is being handled by the KPK.

"Now Mr. Trenggono is focused on managing the marine sector so that our marine potential can raise the welfare of the community," he explained.

It is known that PT Agrinas is one of the companies that has obtained a lobster seed export license.

This company is formed by the Education and Housing Welfare Foundation which is fostered by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.

The company's goal is to play a strategic role in realizing food security, energy security and water security through efforts in the fields of food crop production, fishery production, bioenergy, conservation, food distribution and food production technology.

Previously, President Joko Widodo appointed Trenggono as minister to replace Edhy Prabowo who was a suspect at the KPK. Edhy was named a suspect for accepting bribes related to the export license for fry.

He is a former treasurer of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin National Campaign Team in the 2019 Presidential Election. Before being appointed as Minister of KP, he held the post of Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) accompanying Prabowo Subianto.
