Many Cafes Violate Operating Hours, DKI Deputy Governor: We Give A Lesson, If I Don't Act, Anger Me

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said there are still many cafes or entertainment venues that violate operating hours. Even though there are two legal rules, namely Ingub 64/2020 and Sergub 17/2020.

"There are still many reports of violations, especially cafes and entertainment places because they do not comply with operating hours (regulated in Sergub 17/2020). We ask for the awareness of the managers not to exceed the limit," said Riza as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 22.

The man who is familiarly called Ariza said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has partnered with the TNI and Polri to take firm action if they find cafes that violate them. Riza asked DKI Jakarta residents to report to the COVID-19 Task Force if they found a cafe or entertainment place that violated it.

"For example it was found from last week that the residents reported (there was a crowd) if it could be proven, then we will give sanctions. So we ask not to mess around with cafe owners and entertainment venue owners. If someone reported two weeks ago there was a crowd in the cafe," he said. We will be sanctioned. We will definitely teach you a lesson, don't think that if you pass today tomorrow or not tomorrow, of course we will go after it, "said Ariza.

Riza emphasized that Riza would not selectively take action against health protocol violations during the period of controlling community movements at the end of 2020.

"If we don't take action, scold me, reprimand me. We will not selectively impose sanctions," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government issued Ingub 64/2020 and Sergub 17/2020 to control mass movements during the 2020 Christmas holidays and the new year 2021.

There is also the essence of the two legal umbrellas, namely limiting operating hours and capacity in offices, restaurants, cafes, and tourist attractions.
