Lumpur Contaminated Wells, Victims Of Bandang Kupang Floods Supply With Clean Water BPBD

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) distributed clean water assistance to residents affected by the flash flood natural disaster in Takari Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"Clean water needs are important for residents affected by the flood disaster in Takari Village so that BPBD has begun distributing clean water assistance to disaster victims in the area," said Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) Kupang Regency Elfrid V Sstrange in Kupang, NTT, Thursday 29 December.

He said that the distribution of clean water assistance for victims of the flash flood disaster in Takari was carried out by BPBD because the condition of clean water in the area was dominantly contaminated with mud so that residents could not consume it.

According to him, the wells belonging to residents who are a source of clean water for consumption are also heavily polluted by flash flood water, so the conditions are very cloudy.

"BPBD continues to supply clean water for the needs of residents in Takari who currently really need clean water," he said, quoted by Antara.

The distribution of clean water assistance was carried out by several units of clean water tank cars belonging to BPBD Kupang Regency.

He added that the clean water supplied for the needs of residents affected by the flood in Takari Village was taken from a number of clean water sources around the Takari Village area which are far from the flood disaster site.

"Every day officers from BPBD Kupang Regency help supply clean water for the needs of residents who are victims of natural disasters in Takari Village so that clean water needs are still met," said Elvfrid.

According to him, the need for clean water must remain available so that the health condition of residents is maintained so as not to cause diseases after natural disasters.

He explained that the distribution of clean water was stopped when the condition of clean water sources belonging to the residents of Takari Village was clean and it was declared that they could be consumed for household needs.
