The Government Has Anticipated The Potential For Extreme Weather, DPR: People Don't Need To Be Vulnerable So That Their Economic Activities Are Perturbed

JAKARTA - Commission V of the DPR appreciates the anticipation of the central and regional governments against the potential for extreme weather during the momentum of the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year holidays.

"With various government preparations to anticipate extreme rain during Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 which are already good above, the public does not need to worry so that their economic activity is disrupted," said Suryadi, Wednesday, December 28. The PKS legislator appealed to the travelers so that there is no need to be confused in making travel plans. Because according to the BMKG, the Jabodetabek weather is still in a safe category because the intensity of rain is estimated to be light to moderate rain. "Regarding information about the potential for storms, we ask all parties to be careful in using terms because extreme rain and storms are different. Don't let the difference in information cause unrest in the community," said Suryadi.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and BNPB agreed to take advantage of the TMC at the end of 2022 in Jakarta. TMC is used to anticipate extreme weather such as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds to storms ahead of the turn of 2023.

This was revealed when the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono met with the Head of BNPB Suharyanto at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta.

Suharyanto revealed that the weather modification cooperation using special equipment was also carried out with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indonesian Air Force.

"With the potential for rain to be talked about in the near future, BNPB will cooperate with DKI Province, later the implementation of BRIN and the Indonesian Air Force, budgeting from BNPB as well, we will implement TMC. Later, hopefully, when heavy rains do not interfere in the New Year's process," said Suharyanto, Tuesday, December 27.
