JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has mapped seven vulnerabilities that have the potential to occur during the 2023 New Year celebrations. Starting from crowds to acts of terror.

"The vulnerability of New Year's celebrations is crowds, congestion, conflicts between residents, spikes in COVID-19 cases, crime, natural disasters, and acts of terror," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan in his statement, Tuesday, December 27.

For crowd vulnerabilities and congestion, it is very potential. The reason is that there are music concerts, fireworks parties and convoys of vehicles on New Year's Eve.

Then, regarding the vulnerability of conflicts between residents, it usually begins with the action of a drinking party (alcohol). Then, it has an impact on the brawl.

The spike in COVID-19 cases is certainly related to various celebrations that cause crowds.

Furthermore, regarding crime also has the potential to occur. This is because many criminals take advantage of public negligence, such as theft of empty houses and robbery.

"The crime of robbery, theft, and minor crimes," said Zulpan.

Finally, the vulnerability of natural disasters such as floods and fires. Then, regarding terrorist acts such as bombs and sabotage of places of worship.

With seven potential vulnerabilities during the New Year 2023, a number of police officers have been deployed to guard.

On the previous occasion, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo had conveyed the number of personnel involved in securing and serving Christmas and New Year. There are 166,791 joint personnel on standby.

"The entire series of security activities itself involves approximately 166,791 personnel consisting of 101 thousand Polri personnel and then added to the TNI, the Commander said there were 23 thousand and the rest from all relevant stakeholders," he said.
