JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday his country's geopolitical opposing policy was at the root of a war in Ukraine that had been going on for 10 months.

"The policy of our geopolitical opponents, which aims to divide Russia, is the root of the Ukrainian conflict," the Russian president said.

President Putin further said that Russia is ready to negotiate with all stakeholders in the geopolitical crisis.

"We are ready to negotiate with all participants in this (conflict in Ukraine) process, on some admissible resolutions, but that is their business. They are and it is not us who refuse to negotiate," President Putin explained.

The Russian leader also said his nation was doing the right thing in Ukraine.

"I think we are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, our people. And we have no choice but to protect our citizens," said President Putin.

It is known that Russia launched a special military operation on February 24 which was said to protect native Russian speakers and denazifications. Meanwhile, Ukraine and the West saw it as an invasion for no reason.
