The Surakarta Police Have Spoken Out About The Allegation Of Holding A Pistol To The Grandson Of PB XIII In The Palace

SOLO - Rumors circulated that the firearms were held by security forces to one of the grandchildren of PB XIII. This incident reportedly occurred on Friday, December 23, evening.

This news was conveyed by the Indigenous Council Institute (LDA) of the Surakarta Palace Kanjeng Pangeran Eddy S Wirabhumi. He stated that the stabbing incident occurred when there was a riot in the palace.

"There are officers there, by taking out a gun and pointing it at it, of course, they are afraid. That's why this needs serious attention from the stakeholders who put the apparatus here," he said, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 25.

Surakarta Police Chief Kombes Iwan Saktiadi then spoke up regarding this matter. He said no weapons were taken by their members.

"If there is a request for a palace to provide security, we provide security. For developing information that members have been detained, we declare that there is no one," said Iwan.

He explained that so far there have been four members who work daily in the Surakarta Palace. The assignment was in accordance with a request from Paku Buwono XIII through an official letter that entered the Police.

"So I emphasize, even if there are members who are prepared for security there and equipped with weapons, we have SOPs. From the National Police, every member of the service is equipped with weapons. But related to the holding of weapons, members of one of the relatives there, I declare that there is none," he said again.

Meanwhile, regarding the chaos, his party together with the Surakarta City Government are pushing for mediation between the two conflicting parties.

"That's all to the family. I chatted with the guardian (Mayor of Surakarta), with Gusti Purbo (the crown prince of the Surakarta Palace), encouraging reconciliation, so that the problem was resolved properly," he said.

He said neither the police nor the government were on anyone's side.

"All on the sinuwun side and their younger siblings. From outside the palace, they hope that they can be peaceful. There is no friction between them," he said.

He also confirmed that after the riots, no reports were made to the police. Therefore, so far his party has not made other efforts in the palace.

"Because we realize it's a palace area, because all families. (If there are reports coming in) there are no problems, all citizens are equal to their position in the eyes of the law. If there are reports, we will process them," he explained.

He said the mediation process would be carried out on Monday, December 26, at the Surakarta Police Headquarters. At the mediation, all parties will be invited to get a common ground.
