Speaker Of The House Of Representatives, Puan Maharani: Christmas Becomes A Brotherhood Guard Moment

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, wished her a happy Christmas 2022 and hoped that the Christmas spirit could bring peace while maintaining the bonds of brotherhood.

"To Christians in Indonesia, happy Christmas 2022. May the Christmas spirit be a moment for us to maintain brotherhood," said Puan in her official release, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 25.

Puan also asked the public to continue to cultivate tolerance among religious believers. He reminded, thanks to the spirit of mutual cooperation of all elements of the nation, Indonesia is currently preparing to enter the COVID-19 endemic.

"We should be grateful that this year's Christmas can be celebrated with the much better condition of COVID-19 so that Christians can perform worship with more solemnity in church and gather with their families," he said.

He asked the Government and the TNI and Polri to ensure comfort and security for Christians in celebrating Christmas so that it can be maintained.

"Thank you to the officers, volunteers, and all those who also contributed to ensuring that our brothers and sisters can celebrate Christmas comfortably and calmly," he said.

Puan also congratulated the New Year 2023, as well as inviting the public to learn from this year-long experience in overcoming various challenges.

"To all Indonesian people, happy to welcome the New Year 2023 with joy. Entering the post-COVID-19 pandemic, let's start the new year with new energy," he said.

He again reminded the public to continue to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation in 2023, and to remain vigilant and disciplined in implementing healthy living even though the COVID-19 pandemic has improved.

"Let's move forward together for Indonesia," said Puan hope.
