PNS Report Corruption, KPK Chairman Firli: Please, Minister, Don't Be Punished

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri asked ministers and regional heads not to impose sanctions on employees who report suspected corruption cases. Because, the corruption handled by the KPK often originates from public reports including civil servants (PNS).

This was conveyed by Firli during the signing of the strengthening of the whistleblowing system with a number of related ministries and agencies.

"Please do not punish ministers, governors, regional heads, (employees, ed) who report (suspected corruption, ed). If we prosecute these reporters, the system that has been built will not work," said Firli in his remarks during the signing ceremony. broadcast on the KPK YouTube account, Monday, December 21.

The former Deputy for Corruption Eradication of the Corruption Eradication Commission said that so far employees who are aware of the practice of corruption are often reluctant to open their votes. So, with the whistle blowing system it is considered to be able to provide protection for all parties who dare to report criminal acts of corruption that they know.

Firli realizes that all this time, employees are afraid that when they report corruption cases, they will actually be punished by their superiors. So he hopes that in the future this kind of thing will not happen because the reporter has a big role in the implementation of eradicating corruption.

Furthermore, with the signing of the strengthening of the whistle blowing system, the anti-graft commission has collaborated with 21 ministries / agencies related to handling complaints in efforts to eradicate corruption.

Apart from that, this system also functions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of complaint handling and to prevent duplication of handling.

In the future, the KPK hopes that this cooperation will be useful and maximally implemented. So that the KPK and other ministries / institutions will benefit greatly, especially in eradicating corruption.

The 21 ministries / agencies that signed this cooperation agreement are the Ministry of Religion; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Education and Culture; Ministry of Social Affairs; Ministry of Manpower; Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; Minister For Public Works and Human Settlements; Ministry of Transportation; Ministry of Environment and Forestry; Marine and Fisheries Ministry.

Furthermore, this signing was also carried out with the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Areas and Transmigration; Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / State Land Agency; Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises; Hajj Financial Management Agency; Jambi Provincial Government; Regional Government of Lampung Province; West Kalimantan Provincial Government; West Sulawesi Provincial Government; PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Persero); PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero); and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jambi.
