JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo revealed that the existence of the Ciawi Dam and Sukamahi Dam could reduce the volume of Jakarta floods by 30.6 percent. This flood reduction, especially from upstream to downstream flows.
This was conveyed by Jokowi when inaugurating two dry dams that had been built in Bogor Regency, West Java.
"These two dams are Ciawi and Sukamahi dry dams. We hope to reduce flooding in Jakarta by approximately 30.6 percent," said Jokowi in Bogor, Friday, December 23.
Jokowi also asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono to intensify other flood control programs, namely the construction of sodetan, normalization of the Ciliwung River, and the giant Jakarta sea wall embankment or giant sea wall.
These three programs have actually been planned for a long time. However, the process stalled for several years. Now, Heru is trying to accelerate the continuation of the development of the three programs.
"If the normalization of the 13 rivers in Jakarta is carried out, it will be very consistent. That's what I conveyed to the Governor of DKI so that it really continues," said Jokowi.
Meanwhile, in the construction of the Ciliwung Sodetan or giant culverts from Bidara Cina to the East Flood Canal (BKT), Jokowi hopes that the work can be completed in March 2023.
"Then the matter of sea water that enters the land, for the time being, I think the sea wall has been carried out. However, in the long term, the giant sea wall must also be calculated and start immediately," he said.

Wijaya Karya and Basuki KSO cost Rp. 464.93 billion. The dam reduces water from several tributaries flowing into Ciliwung, such as the Sukabiris river.

The dam can reduce Ciliwung River water before reaching Jakarta with a capacity of 111.75 cubic meters per second. Ciawi Dam construction costs IDR 798.70 billion and is carried out by PT.
