The Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun inaugurated the "Indonesia Experience Center" (IEC) at Sinar Mas Plaza, Shanghai, Saturday, December 17 evening.

At the shopping center owned by Indonesian investors, visitors can enjoy Indonesian food and drinks. Batik and handicrafts as well as the promotion of tourism, art, and culture of the archipelago are also available there.

"This IEC is projected as the front door for Indonesia in Shanghai in improving Indonesia's relations with China in the fields of trade, tourism, investment, and exchange between the peoples of the two countries," said the Indonesian Ambassador in a statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 18.

According to Djauhari, his party will make the IEC a place to learn Indonesian and traditional Indonesian dances as well as a place to enjoy typical Indonesian culinary delights.

"The strategic and popular location of Sinar Mas Plaza in Shanghai makes this IEC interesting to visit," he said.

The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Shanghai, Deny W Kurnia, said he was relieved by the realization of the program he had long dreamed of.

"For years we dreamed of having an integrated venue that served as a means of promotion for all aspects related to Indonesia, be it trade, tourism, investment, arts and culture. Finally, it has finally come true," he said.

Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (Inacham) Liky Sutikno hopes that the IEC can produce more Indonesian works and products that will later support increased cooperation with China.
