Update On COVID-19 As Of December 19: New Cases Of 7,751, Most DKI Jakarta With 1,899 People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. The total cumulative cases totaled 657,948 people since the first cases were announced on March 2. Meanwhile, new positive cases per day reached 7,751 people.

Cases recovered today increased by 4,265 people, so that a total of 536,260 people recovered. Meanwhile, the number of confirmed positive cases who died increased by 145 people and the total was 19,659 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,899 new cases and a total of 161,519 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Furthermore, West Java 1,132 new cases with a total of 72,896 cases. Central Java 998 new cases with a total of 70,653 cases. East Java 752 new cases with a total of 74,550 cases. Then, South Sulawesi has 391 new cases and a total of 25,274 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,103 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 636 cases of recovery, East Java with 520 cases, Central Java with 231 cases, East Kalimantan with 249 cases, and South Sulawesi with 222 cases.

It was also reported that 10 provinces reported the addition of new cases under 40 today. The provinces are West Selawesi, Central Sulawesi, West Papua, West Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, Jambi, Bangka Belitung, Papua, North Maluku and Aceh.

Meanwhile, there is one province that reported no additional cases at all today, namely Gorontalo.

"The highest number of deaths was in East Java Province with 48 people. Then Central Java with 24 people and DKI Jakarta with 20 people," he was quoted as saying from data from the Ministry of Health, Saturday, December 19.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 6,738,451. In detail, as many as 6,622,239 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 116,212 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it is recorded at 64,071 people. Currently, 510 regencies / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases," he said.
