Lampung Ranks 16 Disaster Prone Areas, BPBD Will Enter Schools Form Of Volunteer Groups

LAMPUNG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) will increase disaster education in the educational environment in the Lampung area. Including forming a volunteer group from school residents.

Assistant I for Government and Welfare of the Lampung Provincial Government, Qodratul Ikhwan, said the effort was a step of preparedness to face potential disasters early on.

"So later there will also form a volunteer group containing teachers and school residents, so it will be easier to accommodate and provide education to students to prevent or overcome disasters, especially when in the school environment," he said in Bandarlampung, Wednesday, December 14, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the level of disaster vulnerability of the 16th order nationally has made Lampung one of the disaster-prone areas, requiring early anticipation steps in dealing with potential disasters in its area.

"This village is prone to disasters and almost all areas have the potential for it. So we have to prepare ourselves so that when there is a disaster we can be more responsive and this needs collaboration between all parties," he said.

He added that to anticipate disaster steps in addition to conducting education to making school-level volunteers, his party has also periodically mapped disaster-prone areas.

"Mapping of disaster-prone areas has also been carried out regularly, plus there is also strengthening of disaster volunteers to make them more solid. This is an effort that can be done to anticipate and increase vigilance, preparedness to face disasters in the regions," he said.
