Chairman Of The DKI MUI Becomes Anies Baswedan's Presidential Candidate Volunteer, PKS: Should Be Avoided

JAKARTA - Secretary of the PKS Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Muhammad Taufik Zoelkiflo views the decision of the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Munahar Muchtar who volunteered Anies Baswedan, the presidential candidate from the NasDem Party is an inappropriate attitude. Taufik admitted that there was no prohibition for Munahar as Chairman of the DKI MUI to express his political attitude. This is because the groups that are prohibited from showing this are civil servants, military, and police. "Indeed, there is a right from every citizen to show their political choices. In the normative rules there are those that are not allowed, namely PNS, Polri. and TNI. Mr. Munahar does not include the three. So, normatively he can do it," said Taufik when contacted, Tuesday, December 13. However, Munahar must pay attention to the ethical aspect as the head of the institution that accommodates Islamic religious leaders in Jakarta. Because, it is feared, Munahar's credibility will be disrupted if he becomes a volunteer for one of the election participants. "In addition to normatively, there is ethics. Ethically, it should be avoided. One person who oversees many groups should not show his part in one of the presidential candidates," said Taufik. On that basis, Taufik suggested that Munahar clarify his current position. Munahar must guarantee that his political stance does not affect his position as Chairman of the DKI Jakarta MUI. On Sunday, December 11, Anies Baswedan attended the declaration of "Anies for President 2024" which was held by the Barisan Pecinta Anies Baswedan (Baperan) volunteer group in the East Jakarta area. During the event, it was revealed that the Chairman of the DKI MUI, Munahar Muchtar, served as Chairman of the Baperan Board of Trustees. Munahar came and accompanied Anies during the declaration.
