Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives Krisantus Kurniawan assessed that the Criminal Code (KUHP) that was recently passed was part of social policy of efforts to overcome social problems.

In line with that, Dr. Geofacts Razali, communication lecturer at Bunda Mulia University and Founder of Mindtalheat Training, said that the hectic information about the new Criminal Code cannot be separated from the condition of society and technology that is in the post-modern era.

"Currently, social media is a post-modern era where all things are questioned and expressed freely continuously. So it is a challenge from the government to provide correct and sincere information," he said.

According to the Expert Staff of the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, news about the contents of the Criminal Code is often incomplete, resulting in disinformation. This was spread by parties who objected to the new Criminal Code and was then written by the media without the will to study and understand these articles.

Prof. Henri Subiakto found that disinformation did not only occur in the new Criminal Code but also in the Job Creation Law and the ITE Law and in this case almost all controversial issues were always used for demonstrations.

"It must be admitted that this is a matter of State Communication and the main problem is the unclear arguments of the Government and the State. This is a defeat in communication. So it must be realized by all elements of the government to provide correct information about the Criminal Code which will take effect in the next three years," he concluded.
