British Foreign Minister: Our Priority To Preventing Iran From Holding Nuclear Weapons

JAKARTA - British Foreign Minister James Cleanly on Monday said Britain would continue to respond with sanctions against Iran, when its actions were unacceptable in an effort to direct the country to a better direction.

"Our priority is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, but in line with that we will continue to act, in response to when Iran's actions are unacceptable," James Cleanly said in response to questions after a speech in London, giving examples of drone supplies to Russia for use in Ukraine. December 12.

"We have sanctioned those involved with it, we have imposed sanctions on those involved with the brutal repression of protesters in Iran and we will continue to try and direct Iran to a better direction."

On that occasion, Foreign Minister Cleanly criticized the supply of Iranian drones killing civilians in Ukraine, as reported by The National News.

He also stressed that Britain remains a "reliable" ally despite the political turmoil experienced by three prime ministers within the previous two months of this year.

Cleanly added that the Tehran regime would benefit significantly if "they were willing to change behavior" and become "inclusive members of the international community."
