Kejari Gunung Mas Central Kalimantan Destroyed Hundreds Of Counterfeit Bills

JAKARTA - The Gunung Mas District Prosecutor's Office (Kejari), Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) destroyed hundreds of counterfeit bills in the Rp 100,000 denomination which were part of the legally binding evidence of the 25 cases handled over the past six months.

"The counterfeit money that was destroyed came from one case, namely a resident of Manuhing Subdistrict, who became a victim of fraud when selling swallow bird nests. At that time the resident sold swallow nests and was bought by the perpetrators using counterfeit money," said Head of the Gunung Mas Anthony Prosecutor's Office during the destruction evidence in Kuala Kurun, Thursday.

As many as 476 counterfeit bills with a nominal value of Rp100 thousand were destroyed by burning. This counterfeit money came from a gang that committed fraud against residents of Gunung Mas and was confiscated by the police in East Kotawaringin Regency.

In addition, he said, drugs from 20 case files were also destroyed. Of the 20 case files, the evidence confiscated was shabu-shabu weighing 504.46 grams.

A total of 504.46 grams of shabu-shabu, 142.68 grams were destroyed at the investigation stage, 1.76 grams were used for laboratory examinations, and 360.02 grams for evidence at trial and on this occasion were destroyed along with eight ecstasy pills.

"Apart from that, on this occasion, a sharp weapon from one case was also destroyed, as well as a burning branch or tree trunk and gas matches from three land burning cases," said Anthony.

Gunung Mas Jaya Regent S Monong appealed to the public to be careful so that counterfeit money fraud would not happen again. He reminded the public to check the money they received first, to make sure the money was genuine or fake.

"To ensure that the money is genuine or fake, people can do 3D, which is seen, touched, and seen," he said.

He also reminded the public to jointly fight drugs, by reporting to himself or the police if they know of drug abuse and trafficking.

"The public must avoid drug abuse. Let us work together to eradicate drug abuse and trafficking in Indonesia, especially in Gunung Mas Regency which we love," said Jaya.
