Two Landslides OCCURred During The Burial Rain Of Padang City

SUMBAR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Padang City, West Sumatra said heavy rains that flushed the city since Sunday morning made landslides occur in two places.

Head of BPBD Padan, Endrizal in Padang, said the first landslide occurred on Jalan Baru Nipah Teluk Bayur and the second location was on Jalan Sungai Pisang, Teluk Kabung Selatan Village.

"The avalanche material has hampered people's access roads," he said.

He said rain and strong winds caused landslides covering an area of about 15 square meters with a height of two meters on Jalan Baru Nipah Teluk Bayur.

The joint team consisted of members of the TRC PB BPBD in Padang City together with the Head of South Padang, Lurah, Babinsa, Babinkantibmas, Disaster Alert Group (KSB) in South Padang District and the community carried out an evacuation of landslides so that two-wheeled vehicles could temporarily pass.

"For further work, it will be carried out by the Ministry of PUPR for the Province of West Sumatra. Thank God, two-wheeled vehicles can pass through road access," he said.

Meanwhile, landslides and fallen trees also blocked access to Jalan Sungai Pisang RT 04 RW 02 Teluk Kabung Selatan Village and the team came to the location on Sunday afternoon.

According to him, avalanche materials and fallen trees caused public access to be closed and hit power lines. Land material is estimated at an area of 15 meters and an altitude of about three meters.

The landslide also made a jengkol tree with a length of 18 meters and a diameter of 75 centimeters across the road, causing public road access to be closed.

"The joint team and the community evacuated the clearing of the fallen tree, while the landslide material was cleared with heavy equipment from the West Sumatra Ministry of PUPR, the province of West Sumatra," he said.
