By Christmas, The Government Invites Wamena Residents To Realize The City Of Faith Without Miras

JAKARTA - Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Mountains Province appealed to all people to create a clean, beautiful, comfortable and safe Wamena City (beriman) to welcome Christmas and New Year 2023

The head of Wamena Kogoya City District while in Wamena, Friday, December 9, invited three village heads and eight village heads in the city center to motivate residents to realize their faith.

"We will enter the birthday (HUT) of Wamena City, Christmas and New Year, so we urge all people to protect the city which is our home. Guard the yard, offices, churches, every neighborhood unit and community unit (RT/RW) to be clean to welcome the holiday," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

He invited the managers of the people's markets, hotels, restaurants operating in Wamena to improve the arrangement because Wamena, which is the economic center for eight districts in the Papua Mountains, is now the provincial capital.

"Now the province itself has been formed so let's think about getting better. We have to have motivation. So if yesterday we like to get drunk, commit a crime, now we have to change so we don't do that," he said.

He invited the younger generation who often relax in the Cross Monument Area in front of the Jayawijaya Regent's Office, not to consume liquor. "I hope that all traders who sell there must be involved together to keep the Cross Monument area clean," he said.

He said Wamena City, which is in the valley, has the potential to become an inundated area if it rains. So if it is not prevented by maintaining environmental cleanliness, the trenches will be clogged and cause water to overflow into residential areas and government offices.
