COVID-19 Update As Of December 17: New 7,354 Cases From Examination Of 60,629 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 60,629 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 7,354 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 643,508 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Thursday, December 17.

Cases recovered today increased by 4,995, so that a total of 526,979 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 142 people and the total was 19,390 people.

The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,690 new cases and a total of 158,033 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Followed by West Java which has 1,277 new cases with a total of 70,777 cases. East Java has 855 new cases and a total of 72,979 cases. Then, Central Java has 620 new cases and a total of 69,301 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 1,376 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an increase of 896 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 582 recovered cases, and Central Java with an increase of 289 recovered cases.

Then, none of the provinces reported having no new cases today. Provinces that reported new cases under 10 were Aceh with 8 cases and North Maluku with 8 cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 6,607,005. In detail, a total of 6,492,363 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 114,642 using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 62,250 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
