Acting Governor Heru Forms Of The Preparation Team For The ASEAN City Governor-Mayor Meeting In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono formed a team to prepare for the meeting forum for governors and mayors throughout ASEAN which will be held next year.

This revealed that the Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau, Marulina Dewi, after the handover of Jakarta's chairmanship as the host of the 2023 Mayors and Governors Meeting of the ASEAN Capital (MGMAC) to Heru.

"The ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government formed a team to prepare Jakarta as the host of ASEAN 2023 and MGMAC 2023," said Marulina at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, December 6.

Marulina revealed that Heru had instructed all Regional Apparatus Organizations within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to provide the best preparation in fully supporting Indonesia's chairmanship in the 2023 ASEAN event and the role of Jakarta as the host of the 2023 MGMAC.

"We will also intensely coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ASEAN Secretariat and other institutions in ensuring that preparations run in harmony with the Central Government and run well," he said.

The MGMAC was initiated by Joko Widodo as Governor of DKI Jakarta in 2013. The MGMAC is a forum for the capital leaders of ASEAN countries to discuss ideas and development practices, as well as a mechanism to strengthen collaboration between these cities.

Regarding this, yesterday Heru Budi asked his staff to prepare for this international forum carefully and work more swiftly.

Although the implementation of the 2023 MGMAC will still run at the end of next year, Heru views that preparations for the event should be carried out since early 2023.

This is because the DKI Provincial Government also still has to prepare a policy ahead of Ramadan until Eid Al-Fitr in April, then prepare for the 466th Anniversary of DKI Jakarta on June 22, prepare for Independence Day on August 17, to prepare for the 2023 PON.

"Ladies and gentlemen here (in leadership meetings) we must be agile. Plus our tasks, that is a noble task," Heru said at a leadership meeting at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 5.
