PPKM Still Exists, DKI Provincial Government Waits For The Central Government On Christmas And New Year's Policies

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is still waiting for the central government's decision regarding the direction of the policy of restricting the community during the implementation of Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023. Deputy Governor for Culture and Tourism of DKI Jakarta Marullah Matali said, all rules for implementing Christmas and New Year still refer to the determination of the level of implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Regarding PPKM, we will see later there will be instructions or a decision from the ministry, from the central government, which is related to this (PPKM) of course it will be considered," said Marullah at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, December 5. Last year, the government still banned New Year celebrations that could cause crowds to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. Meanwhile, currently, Jakarta has implemented PPKM Level 1 until today. A number of crowd activities such as music concerts and the like have been allowed. However, PPKM will still be suspended every two weeks. Thus, the DKI Provincial Government is still waiting for the central government's decision regarding the anticipation of the euphoria of Christmas and New Year celebrations that will be carried out by the community. "In the citizens' euphoria, it has been 2 years since they have not carried out activities, both religious and cultural activities," said Marullah.
