JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts the potential for heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning in a number of cities and provinces in Indonesia on Sunday.

In an early weather warning quoted from the BMKG website in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, it was stated that forecasts for heavy rain could fall in the provinces of Bali, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Bengkulu, DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo, Jambi, West Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan. Heavy rain also has the potential to fall in Riau, North Sumatra, South Sumatra, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi Lampung, Maluku, North Maluku, and West Papua.

Cities in Indonesia that have the potential to experience heavy rain that has the potential to be accompanied by lightning today are Gorontalo, Bengkulu, Jambi, Lampung, Bali, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Kendari, and Medan. Especially for DKI Jakarta, light rain is predicted to fall throughout Jakarta on Sunday afternoon until evening. Meanwhile, in the morning, the entire Jakarta area was cloudy. BMKG also warned that Central Kalimantan and North Sumatra were included in the category of alert for heavy rains such as floods and landslides.
