JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Sea Transportation has officially launched the sea toll logistics information system application or Sitolaut. The goal is to improve the quality of sea highway services.

Sitolaut is a development of the Logistic Communication System or LCS platform. Whereas LCS previously could only be accessed through the website, Sitolaut is now available as an application that can be downloaded on the PlayStore.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi asked this application to be optimally useful, both for the community, business actors, ship operators, and the government.

"I give my appreciation for this program to run well. What is done online must be meaningful, meaningful, used, this should not become a decorative item that cannot be used," he said, in the launch of the Sitolaut application, which was broadcast on YouTube, the Ministry of Transportation, Tuesday, December 15th.

Through the Sitolaut application, the public can track the movement of goods to check price disparities in basic necessities and commodities in the field. Then, this application presents two categories, namely goods delivery and livestock delivery.

"It is hoped that there will be a big screen that we know where the Pelni ship is, or where the ASDP ship or its cargo, I have already described at that time. But we also hope that this will be a way for us to modernize our way of working so that it is more efficient and gives meaning to all of us, "he said.

Budi hopes that the sea highway service will reach people in remote, frontier and outermost areas. "We have to bring goods to Papua, then enter the rivers," he said.

In addition, Budi said, this sea highway can encourage increased production of agricultural products and expand its distribution. This means that certain regional crops can be found in other areas.

"The produce from eastern Indonesia can run, can be carried by ships so that those in Java can eat it," he explained.

For your information, before being launched, the Sitiolaut application goes through a testing process by regulators, ship operators, sender representatives, and representatives of consignees or parties who buy goods.

Last October, the testing was completed and continued with technical guidance and outreach at ten transit ports.

The ten ports are Makassar, Tahuna, Padang, Ambon, Timika, Saumlaki, Natuna, Aceh, Kupang, and Nabire ports. After officially operating, the Sitolaut application can be accessed by parties who buy goods or consignees, suppliers, shippers or shippers, goods operators, regulators, and resellers.
