Ahead Of The Replacement Of The TNI Commander, KSAL Yudo Margono Gave Puan Maharani Brevet Hiu Kencana

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, received a brevet of honor from the Kencana Shark from the Indonesian Navy (Navy). This means that Puan is one of the residents of the honor of the Indonesian Navy.

The handover of the Kencana Shark brevet was held at Pier 100 Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Monday 28 November. For information, the Kencana Shark brevet is a symbol of honor for the Submarine Unit in the Indonesian Navy.

Arriving at the location, Puan was greeted by the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono. The brevet embedding ceremony was carried out on a submarine belonging to the Indonesian Navy, KRI Alugoro-405, which docked at Pier 100 Tanjung Priok.

Puan received Brevet Hiu Kencana TNI AL along with a number of state officials, Member 1 BPK RI Nyoman Adhi Suryadyana, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Army Chief of Staff General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, KSAU Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, and Deputy Chief of Staff Vice Admiral TNI Ahmadi Heri Purwono.

Before entering KRI Alugoro-405, Puan and other officials received a safety briefing from the Indonesian Navy representative, Marine Colonel Widya Purwanda. The first woman to serve as Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives was the first to enter KRI Alugoro, followed by other officials.

KRI Alugoro-405 then dived for an hour by sailing around the waters of Jakarta. The embedding of the Kencana Shark brevet to Puan and other officials was carried out by KSAL Admiral TNI Yudo Margono on the voyage.

In addition to the brevet embedding ceremony, the KRI Alugoro-405 voyage was also filled with the introduction of the crew of the TNI soldiers along with the contents of the submarine. Puan received an explanation of the work of the early ships to the advantage of the KRI Alugoro-405 which has the torpedo.

Not only that, Puan was also shown to operate KRI Alugoro-405 when an emergency situation occurred. According to him, KRI Alugoro-405 is a complete KRI to maintain the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

"I would like to thank Mr. KSAL for inviting us to see the daily life of KRI Alugoro-405 along with its crew," said Puan after the cruise.

Although the room is a bit narrow, Puan admitted that the KRI Alugoro-405 is very comfortable. He also felt happy to have a new experience by boarding the submarine made in collaboration with South Korea.

"Indonesia is an active free country, so we open up opportunities for cooperation with all countries that can encourage it to adapt to Indonesian demographics," he said.

"We see and hope that this ship will become one of the KRI Pamungkas for the Indonesian Navy," added Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture ensured that the DPR would continue to support the progress of the TNI's defense equipment, including ships belonging to the Indonesian Navy. This, said Puan, is because Indonesia is a maritime country or a maritime country.

"So that more ships are needed that can protect the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and of course guard if there are things that are not desirable to interfere with the sovereignty of our country," explained the grandson of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia, Bung Karno.

Furthermore, Puan stated that the DPR is ready to oversee the fulfillment of the Minimum Essential Force (MEF) which is the main force and minimum standard of the TNI. According to him, MEF is absolutely prepared as the main prerequisite for the implementation of the effectiveness of the main tasks and functions of the TNI in dealing with actual threats.

Currently, the MEF has entered phase III for the 2019-2024 period which is targeted to reach 70 percent by the end of 2024. The fulfillment of the Phase III MEF departs from the achievement of Phase II MEF for the 2014-2019 period which reached around 62 percent of the target of 74.62 percent.

"The DPR supports the achievement of the MEF as much as possible. And we will push it before 2024, the third strategic MEF target will be achieved," said Puan.

KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono stated that the Hiu Kencana brevet was given as a form of gratitude for Puan's contribution and other state officials in building the Indonesian Navy, especially submarines.

"With the embedding of Hiu Kencana brevets, ladies and gentlemen have become Indonesian citizens and are responsible for the progress of the Navy," explained KSAL.

The Indonesian Navy is honored that Puan and other Hiu Kencana brevet recipients are willing to feel and dive into the life of the Indonesian sovereign guard submarine service.
